March 2006, the membership of Old Way Baptist Church rendered a unanimous decision in the election of Reverend Timmie J. Banks, as Pastor-Elect. Pastor Banks preached his first sermon as Pastor of the Old Way Baptist Church on April 2, 2006.
Born in Deridder, Louisiana where he received his early education, Pastor Timmie accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into his life at the Sweet Home Baptist Church in Deridder. Later, he attended the Dallas Theological Seminary and the Lacy Kirk Williams Ministries Institute, also in Dallas. He studied under his home Pastor, Rev., George B. Harris of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Deridder, La., where he was licensed to preach the Gospel. Minister Banks went on to study at Maple Springs Bible College and attended many conferences and seminars which furthered his zeal for learning God’s word.
Pastor Banks is a former member of Central Union Baptist Church in Washington, DC where he Became an Associate Minister under the auspices of Pastor James M. Lee, Sr. After serving thirteen glorious years at Central Union, the Lord unction for Pastor Timmie to move forward in the Ministry.
Pastor Timmie Banks was acquired by and officially installed as the fourth Pastor of the OWBC in October 2006.
Since his tenure with Old Way Baptist Church, Pastor “B” as called by some of his parishioners, has implemented the New Members Orientation/Training Class and a Youth Bible Study. Pastor “B” also developed the OWBC Music Ministry under the direction of the Minister of Music into a profound contemporary sound yet keeping with the Old Way tradition.
His many accolades are given from a host of prominent Pastors and Ministers throughout our region.
He is a current member of the Baptist Minister’s Conference of Washington, DC and Vicinity where he continues to be encouraged and ministered to by his mentors.
Pastor Banks doctrinal statement is, “I have put my trust in God’s word completely. I believe the bible to be true and inspired of God. Salvation is only by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and baptism is only an act of obedience to the Lord that when we are saved we will be baptized.”
Pastor Banks is the seventh of nine children born to Myrtis Banks and the late Willie Banks. He is the devoted husband of one wife, Loreen Banks and the father of DeShane Banks who faithfully serves his country in the United States Navy.
Pastor Banks’ GOD inspired vision is to lead Old Way into the ministry of Missions, Evangelism and Outreach, as well as to continue in his motto “Increasing the Kingdom; One Soul At A Time.”

Pastor's Installation Service October 14, 2006 (Statement of Occasion/Welcome) First, giving honor to our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, to our honoree Pastor Timmie J. Banks, our presiding officer, Rev. Coleman, other clergy, members, friends and our Pastor’s family. It is an honor and a privilege for me to be here today to welcome you to this very special day in the life of our church, the Old Way Baptist Church.
Six months ago the Lord blessed our congregation by sending to us his undersheperd, Pastor Timmie J. Banks. Just think, Pastor Banks is not here by chance, but by God’s choosing. His hands formed our Pastor and made him the person he is. God compares him to no one else—he’s one of a kind. He lacks nothing that God’s grace can’t give him. God has allowed our Pastor to be here at this time in history to fulfill His special purpose for this generation and the Old Way Baptist Church.
We are indeed fortunate that the Lord saw fit to send Pastor Banks to preach and teach the good news here at Old Way Baptist Church.
Today we celebrate what the Lord has done in the life of God’s people and especially through the life of Pastor Banks.
The task of a preacher is not an easy one, and the responsibilities are large. For this reason, we also want to say a special word of appreciation to our Pastor’s family. Thank you.
We are all ambassadors for Christ, but most especially Pastor Banks, who represents Christ in the affairs of the Kingdom on earth. To Old Way Baptist Church; Jeremiah 3:15 states, “I will give you Pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.”
Again I say “welcome” to you who have joined us today for this very special occasion and may you leave here filled with the fruit of the spirit.
GOD BLESS!!!
Deacon Michael Carr, Sr.
